Christmas in July Week 4

I was at a loss of what to post for the last week of Christmas in July. I am working on a set of projects for display at an August gathering of demonstrators and I was going to wait to share some of those ideas until after the meeting. However, I really wanted to share this card with you and it is a perfect ending to my Christmas in July series. This week's card features the Rustic Retreat stamp set which is a new set in the Annual Catalog. It is a set that has a little bit of everything which makes it a perfect set to own. I will share more cards made with this stamp set in the upcoming weeks.

I love Christmas and all the colors that go along with it, not just the traditional red and green, but other colors as well. I particularly enjoy blue and silver and that is what led me to design today's card. I was inspired by a card made by Lori Lemke, another Stampin' Up! Independent Demonstrator. It features Night of Navy, but also uses Seaside Spray which is one of Stampin' Up!'s In-Colors for 2019-21. Seaside Spray pairs beautifully with Night of Navy and has a hint of gray in it which makes me think of winter skies in the Northeast of the US.

Rustic Retreat has a lovely log cabin image that makes it perfect not just for Christmas, but year round as well. The greeting is also found in this same stamp set. I did pair these images with the evergreen trees from Rooted in Nature. I'm very happy with this monochromatic card that I will be making more of to have in my Christmas card stash.

Christmas in July Week 3

This week I am showcasing the four designs I am using in my Christmas in July Stamp-a-Stack class on Thursday July 25. The stamp sets I used are current, but I did use retired Designer Series Paper and a retired embossing folder. The stamp sets I used are Merry Christmas to All, Making Christmas Bright and Lots of Cheer.

This first card uses the Merry Christmas to All stamp set. This card is inspired by a card from UK Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Michelle Last which she designed last Holiday season. You can see her original card here.

The second card uses the Merry Christmas to All stamp set as well and was inspired by a design from US Stampin' Up Demonstrator Melissa Kerman from last Holiday season. You can see her original card here.  I did not use the technique she used for putting together the card.

The third card uses the Making Christmas Bright stamp set. This card was not inspired by any one demonstrator, instead it uses a tri-panel theme you find on many cards.

My fourth card uses a greeting from the new holiday stamp set Lots of Cheer. I was using up retired Designer Series Paper and keeping the designs simple for my stamp-a-stack.

The current stamp sets, punches, and dies  I have used for these cards are found below:

Christmas in July Week 2

Again this week I am sticking with the Stampin' Up! Color Challenge for July posted on Facebook. The challenge colors are Real Red, Shaded Spruce and Whisper White. I added So Saffron to my card design this week. The featured stamp set is Making Christmas Bright which was carried over from the 2018 Holiday catalog to the 2019-20 Annual Catalog. This is a really fun set with lots of potential and perfect for anyone who loves Christmas lights!! I happen to be one of those people.

My card this week is clean and simple. I used the Stitched Labels Dies as well as the Layering Circle Dies. The addition of Metallic Pearls added that little extra something to the card.

As I was stamping I decided to try an additional layout for the string of lights, but keep the greeting exactly the same. The greeting is actually two separate stamps which makes it super easy to use two different colors to stamp. I used Stampin' Write Markers in Real Red and Shaded Spruce to color in the bulbs in the string of lights for both cards. I can't decide which card I like better.

Christmas in July Week 1

I love making Christmas cards so when I saw the Stampin' Up! Color Challenge for July on Facebook I immediately decided I needed to make a Christmas card.  The colors for the challenge include Real Red, Shaded Spruce, and Whisper White.

I had also recently seen a tip about making a three layer flower with the Floral Essence stamp set and punch. I stamped two flowers in Real Red and two flowers in Shaded Spruce on Whisper White card stock. I followed this up with using the Wink of Stella pen to spread the color and add some sparkle. The green flower was cut apart and layered behind the red flower so the petals are farther out.

I sprayed a shimmer mist on the Shaded Spruce card stock and ran it through the Swirls and Curls embossing folder. Gold glimmer paper using the Sprig Punch added an extra bling to the card.

Check back next Friday to see another card designed for Christmas in July. A list of supplies used in the card can be found below.
